| • Weight – while pine beds bring ‘light’ into a room they are incredibly heavy. Much heavier than a divan bed or even an iron bed at times. So you need to make sure that for an upstairs bedroom the floor can take the added weight. • Joints – pine beds can take a lot of wear but the joints can get a little creaky. See how the bed is put together and how the weight of the mattress is supported. • Finish – pine comes in different finishes that range from the highly polished, varnished look to the hardly treated ‘natural’ pine. The finish of your bed is important not least because it impacts on price and overall quality. |
